The Panda Chase is a FUN fundraising event that raises money for Yick Wo’s physical education program. Participants will chase a panda, our school mascot, at their own pace on a designated and secure course at Yick Wo Elementary. There will be light breakfast and snacks for all to enjoy after the chase. The Panda Chase raises funds for Yick Wo by obtaining pledges for each student participant. These funds go towards Art, Outdoor Education and Physical Education Programs.

Classroom Prizes
We have dessert party prizes for the three weeks leading up to the Panda Chase for classrooms with the most participation and the most funds raised!
Week 1 (Sept. 30-Oct. 4): the classroom with the most participation and the classroom with the most funds raised will both receive a popsicle party.
Week 2 (Oct. 7-11): the classroom with the most participation and the classroom with the most funds raised will both receive a cookie party.
Week 3 (Oct. 14-18): the classroom with the most participation and the classroom with the most funds raised will both receive a cupcake party.
A classroom can only win one dessert party, so six classrooms will win! This is your chance to win a dessert party for your student's classroom!
Overall, after the Panda Chase, the classroom with the most funds raised will receive a pizza party!

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register my student?
To register your student, please fill out the registration form by Wed., October 16, 2024.
Registration is mandatory for participation in the Panda Chase due to the liability waiver.
Registration for the race is free for all Yick Wo students!
How do we get pledges?
Raising money is fast and easy, just go to this link and search for your student (or donate to the main fundraiser page).
You can also edit your child’s own customizable pledge page including adding a picture or changing your goal. From there, you can send out emails to family and friends directly from the website, or use your child’s specific 99 pledges weblink to post on your social media or texts.
You can also donate via check or collect donations via check, which is preferable to avoid transaction fees. Please make checks payable to “Yick Wo PTO” and give it to any PTO board member or Ms. Melanie at the front office. Please let any PTO board member know about your student’s pledge via cash or check, and we will manually add it to the pledge site so he/she can see it on his/her pledge link.
Are there any prizes for collecting pledges? YES!
In order to receive a Panda Chase t-shirt, we ask that each student fundraise a minimum of $30.00.
We will also have prizes for the classrooms with the most participation and the most funds raised! See above for the prizes.
A student has "participated" if he/she receives any pledges, including one pledge for $1 or $5.
What are we fundraising for?
The Panda Chase run helps raise money for special programs that are not funded by SFUSD. Programs such as outdoor education, art education, reading and writing intervention, as well as recess supervision, field trips and teacher supplies.
Who usually wins the Panda Chase?
Although the Panda tries really hard, the Panda is easily distracted by flowers and likes to take naps. The student will undoubtedly beat the Panda in the Chase.
The students also start the Chase by grade level, with the oldest kids going first and the youngest kids going last. The older kids will do multiple laps while the younger ones can just do one lap.
Since this is a fundraiser for Yick Wo, everyone is a winner!
